Our Frequently Asked Questions are intended to provide clear guidance on the services we offer, our working methods, and what clients can expect when working with us. If you require further information, we would be pleased to discuss your project in more detail.
- Our square metre rate starts from £450 + VAT for antiqued mirror and from £480 + VAT for gilded glass. Our verre églomisé finishes start at £1200 + VAT/m2.
- Polishing, bevelling, toughening, cut-outs etc all cost extra
- We charge survey, templating and installation on an hourly rate
- We generally recommend 4mm or 6mm for panels but we also supply different thicknesses up to 12mm
- Clean cut edges are a more traditional finish and are desharpened by hand with edges darkened (to remove the glint)
- Polished edges give a very small chamfer of between 2-4mm depending on the thickness of the glass. This edge finish is more contemporary.
- Bevelled edges are a decorative feature and can be made in thicknesses up to 40mm, depending on the thickness of the glass
- Yes this is not a problem. We would require a template, DXF file or datum drawing which shows the exact location of the cutout. The cutout should not be less than 25mm from any edge to minimise risk of breakage.
- Toughened (tempered) glass is available and required in certain situations — including table tops, areas near high-heat sources, and anywhere close to high-voltage appliances such as kettles, which can cause standard glass to crack or shatter.
- We recommend toughened glass for table tops and mirrors behind a heat source. Toughened glass is treated so that if it breaks, it will shatter into small pieces rather than into large shards. See above.
- Yes this is not a problem. We would require a template or CAD file showing the exact location of the cutout. This should not be less than 25mm from any edge.
- All sizes vary depending on the type of glass.
- For standard low iron 6mm glass/mirror, the maximum size is approximately 3000mm x 1500mm. There is movement on this depending on height in rerlation to width.
- Each mm of glass weighs 2.5kgs; so 4mm glass weighs 10kg/m2 and 6mm glass weighs 15kgs/m2
- We supply adhesive with simple instructions on how to use, however, this can require on of our specialists, if a composite layput is required.
- If you have a framed mirror, we will supply split battens or z-bars on the back of the mirror which will have a corresponding batten to be affixed to the wall.
- The Glass industry standard allows for a tolerance of +/-2mm per panel. We can work to +/-1mm and for composite layouts, we will always ensure that the grid lines marry up.
- We work on lead times varying from 4-7 weeks depending on size of panels, quantity and complexity of the job.
- We ask for a 50% deposit upon acceptance of the estimate with the remaining 50% to be paid prior to dispatch of the goods.
- We provide a full survey, supply and installation service. We will also advise on the most suitable layout for your mirrors.
- For Retail custoimers, we charge a small fee to cover material costs.
- Yes we do. We can create DXF/PDF files to your design. This cost is dependent on design complexity.
- Our studio in Hampshire is open by appointment to visit – please note it is a working studio and is not a showroom as such. You can see work in progress and we do have all our finishes available to view.
