Installation
From initial survey to final installation, the process is managed in a clear and structured manner. Each stage is carefully planned to support an efficient installation and a consistent final result.
Following the survey, the composite layout is agreed with the client in full, supported by detailed drawings when required. Once approved, production is scheduled and the installation can move forward smoothly and efficiently.
As buildings naturally shift and glass responds to changes in temperature, we use 0.5 mm spacers between each panel during installation. To help save time and cost, we ask clients to remove these 48 hours later. These are simple to remove, and we will provide clear guidance.
Once installed, your mirrors are complete and ready to enjoy. Maintenance is straightforward and no different from cleaning a standard mirror, as the antiqued or gilded finish is applied to the reverse side of the glass. To protect the joins between panels, avoid spraying cleaning products directly onto the mirror where panels meet. Instead, spray onto a soft cotton cloth and clean outwards from each panel, working along the joins rather than across them.
This depends entirely on the complexity of the project. A straightforward installation may take just a few hours, whilst a larger or more intricate scheme could require a full day or two on site.
It is worth noting that much of the critical work is done at the survey stage. A thorough and accurate survey is the foundation of a smooth installation — provided nothing on site has changed in the intervening period, the fitting itself should proceed efficiently and without complication. This is precisely why we place such importance on the survey being carried out under the right conditions, with everything in its final position before we attend.
There are two key things to bear in mind. Most importantly, nothing on site should be altered after the survey has taken place. Any changes to the wall, skirting, fittings or surrounding area could affect the dimensions and risk the mirrors not fitting correctly —
so it is essential that the space remains exactly as it was when we measured.
Beyond that, we simply ask that the installation area is free from obstructions giving our team the space they need to work safely and efficiently.
If anything has changed on site since the survey however minor it may seem, it is essential that you contact us before the installation date. Depending on the nature of the change, it may be necessary for us to revisit the site to re-measure, which would be chargeable. In some cases, changes made without prior notice could mean that panels no longer fit, and the glass may need to be recut or remade as the mirrors cannot be altered once the antiquing or finishing process is complete.
